Laser cutting of sheet metal

Laser cutting is a method of processing materials that involves focusing a high-power laser beam on the surface of the material. The laser precisely melts and vaporizes the material at the cutting point, which allows for very precise edges. This process is used for various materials.

We can cut sheets of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Our office is located in Poland near Warsaw

A laser works by generating a coordinated beam of light. The term LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

Here’s a simplified explanation of how a laser works:

  1. Excitation of atoms: Inside a laser, atoms of a material (which can be gas, solid, or semiconductor) are excited by an external energy source, such as light or electrical current, causing electrons to move to a higher energy level.
  2. Photon emission: After being excited, the electrons return to their original energy level, releasing energy in the form of photons (particles of light).
  3. Light amplification: Photons that are in phase and have the same wavelength stimulate other atoms to emit more photons. This results in the creation of a coordinated, focused beam of light.
  4. Beam focusing: Using mirrors and lenses, the beam of light is concentrated into an intense, precise ray. This focused energy allows for cutting, drilling, or engraving materials.

In laser cutting, the beam is so powerful that it melts, burns, or vaporizes the material at the point of contact. This enables precise cuts without physically touching the material.
